Laura was born in Ireland and grew up in Canada.
She started riding at 5 and by 11 she was doing pony club competitions that she pursued until 18.
At the age of 19 she spent one year at the Potomac Horse Center to complete her Horsemasters Degree.
She then went to England to complete the British Horse Society Instructors Degree (BHSI) and returned to the Potomac Horse Center to be the head of the Horsemasters program, teach, coach successful competitors and compete in 3 day Eventing, for 9 years.
In 1990, she moved to Baltimore where she continued to teach and compete.
She successfully competed at the National level, bringing her own horses, Buccaneer, to Intermediate Horse of the year for zone 2, Irish Coffee from Novice to winning Preliminary and Intermediate Events, and Sky’s Prospect to second place at the National Preliminary Championships and then he won Fair Hill Advanced Event.
